Contact

Whether enquiring about bespoke whakairo, carved taonga, contemporary Māori artwork, or future commissions, all enquiries are welcomed. Whakapa mai.

Creating from Kaeo in Te Tai Tokerau, my mahi toi is shaped through whakapapa, whanaungatanga, pūrākau, and te taiao. Combining traditional approaches to whakairo with evolving contemporary forms, each taonga is created through a slow and considered process guided by kōrero, craftsmanship, and the unique character of the material itself.

A limited number of whakairo commissions are undertaken each year, allowing time for each work to develop naturally through research, design, carving, and finishing.

Commissions

Commissions are welcomed for whānau taonga, weddings and anniversaries, remembrance carvings, significant milestones, architectural spaces, contemporary sculptural works, and other meaningful occasions.

When getting in touch, please include as much detail as possible about your whakaaro, timeframe, budget, and the type of whakairo or taonga you are interested in.

If enquiring about a tewhatewha, taiaha, or other rākau Māori, please let us know whether the work is intended for functional or ornamental use, and whether a display mount is required.

Process & Timeframes

Many works require weeks or months of dedicated carving time, particularly larger or more detailed commissions, so advance notice is always appreciated.

Please allow a few days for a response, as each enquiry is thoughtfully considered.

Workshop Visits

If you’re passing through Kaeo, feel free to get in touch and arrange a visit to the workshop for a cup of tea and a kōrero.
